LinkedIn message that doesn't read like a template

A connection request and first message worth replying to.

Updated Jul 26, 2026

Write a LinkedIn connection note and a follow-up message. Them: [name, role, company, and one specific thing you noticed — a post, a change, a shared connection]. Me: what you do in one line. Why I'm reaching out: honest reason. The connection note must be under 300 characters and reference the specific thing, not their job title. The follow-up should ask one question they'd enjoy answering, and must not pitch. Give me two versions: one warm, one direct. Tell me which suits their seniority better.
